Persecution and suffering

Persecution and suffering in the Christian life is a certainty. We will all at some time in our life face some form of persecution whether it is violent and life threatening or whether it is less extreme, we should not be alarmed at the prospect of suffering. Jesus said we must remember the word that He spoke, “a servant is not greater than his master, if they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you, if they kept My word, they will keep yours also.” (Jn 15:20)

THOUGHTS TO PONDER ON

1. Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city. (Matt 23:34)

2. But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake. (Lk 21:12)

3. The Lord your God will put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you. (Deut 30:7)
